We are looking for an ambitious, creative and personable individual to be the Editor of our magazine for Deal, the Deal Despatch. Publishing tri-annually, this uplifting print magazine is in it’s third year and we are now looking for an editor to take over from the Spring 2025 issue.

The ideal candidate will be full of ideas and able to work both independently and as part of a wider publishing team. The post holder should live in and be well connected in Deal and have editorial experience, preferably for a local magazine. They will need to be comfortable becoming ‘the face’ of the magazine and in forming and maintaining strong, positive connections within the Deal community.

Duties include deciding and commissioning content and working with a designer to see the magazine through to publication. It is estimated that the role requires 30 to 40 hours of work per issue, three times per year (spring, summer and late autumn). The month before the issue is published is the busiest and requires the highest number of hours. It is essential that the postholder is able to organize their workload alongside other commitments and work independently and flexibly from home or a workspace. This is a part-time, freelance role, with a set fee paid per issue. The fee varies according to the issue’s pagination, but starts from £800 per issue.

The role will commence in January so the Spring 2025 issue (published in April 2025) will be their first issue as Editor. Full training will be given come January 2025.

deVine Voices is a busy talent agency based in Broadstairs in Kent.

(please do not apply if this location is not suitable – this is not a remote working position)

We provide English and international voices across advertising, broadcast, corporate, gaming and digital content.

We are looking for another super addition to our friendly team.

Talent and client liaison, negotiating fees and daily admin coupled with scouting and casting whilst maintaining the bookings system are the main tasks.

Casting & Bookings:

• Liaise with talent and clients via email and telephone
• Work closely with deVine Agents and Director, supporting daily workload
• Book in talent using web-based booking system.
• Fee negotiation
• Casting – use the CMS and deVine website to review and cast talent, matching to client brief.
• Research and scout talent globally, using online resources.
• Provide constructive feedback to talent to improve their profile and auditions.
• Pinpoint and make contacts in various creative industries – advertising, TV, gaming for new business leads.
• Chase up financial info from talent and clients
• Calculate talent fees for quoting
• Create, send and keep tabs on invoices
• Prepare paperwork for accounts
• Debt recovery
• General administration
• Flag up potential issues/delays to the team and Directors proactively
• Test communication and audio recording software with talent/studios/clients before session using Zoom/Teams/Meets/Skype/Logic/Protools/Source Connect

Data Entry & Proofreading:

• Data entry – input talent profiles for the deVine website and record keeping
• Proofread, correct and review content
• Publish content on the website through the dedicated Content Management System (CMS).
• Edit, clean and convert media files
• Organise and add media assets using the CMS and Vimeo
• Contact talent for missing information and keep record of outstanding assets and info
• Track and report mistakes on site
• Compile and share feedback
• File and manage data via folders on outlook and mac system

Requirements:

• Exceptional communicator. Strong English language and writing skills. Warm, friendly but professional manner is required.
• Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively, enabling you to work quickly and accurately.
• Strong mathematical skills
• Negotiation skills
• Research skills
• Experience of using a booking system and content management system (CMS)
• Computer literate and technically minded, together with a good knowledge of standard software packages – Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) with experience of using Apple mac systems.
