Distributor
We are looking for a personable, organised, confident individual to distribute our quarterly magazine The Ramsgate Recorder. This freelance, part time role will commence with the summer 2025 issue, launching 1 May 2025.
Key dates in which the distributor will need to be available for work are the weekends of 1 May, 31 July and 6 Nov 2025.
The fee is based on the number of copies distributed. For 7,000 copies the fee is £350. For every additional 1,000 copies the fee increases by £50.
Key Responsibilities:
- To collect copies of the new issue at our depot in Pysons Road, Thanet, on the day of delivery to take to the launch venue and then distribute in the community.
- To distribute the appropriate number of copies to stockists using an Excel database and to be available for top-ups over the following weeks as/when required.
- To update and add information, distribution numbers and dates to the Excel database after every distribution round.
- To communicate regularly with the Distribution Manager and in the distribution WhatsApp group.
- To take and upload photographs of the magazine in situ in stockists during distribution, sharing these with the Brightside team/Whatsapp group in real time for SMM’s to update on our social media.
- To liaise with stockists to provide the best POS for the magazines.
- To find and approach new stockists/advertisers to increase the reach of the magazine (commission based).
- To attend a six monthly distribution breakfast meeting
Essential attributes:
- Lives in Ramsgate and knows the town and surrounding areas well.
- Available for all proposed publication dates (weekends of 1 May, 31 July and 6 November), plus top-ups as and when required
- A reliable vehicle and clean driving license
- Access to the Internet and confident using Excel spreadsheets in Google Drive
- An excellent communicator
- Physically fit and able to carry copies of the magazine around town
- Comfortable dealing with a range of business owners
- Driven with a positive attitude and committed approach towards visiting stockists
- Confident to approach potential stockists
- Able to prioritise and manage time effectively and work independently
